Community & Family Training Agency (CAFTA)
Mission Statement
CAFTA works for personal and social change. It empowers individuals and communities by providing education, training and support to people of Ballymun and other areas of economic disadvantage.
Overview
CAFTA was established in 1987 and has provided training locally and nationally for most of this time. Our voluntary Board is made up of local residents, Little Sisters of the Assumption and employees of educational, state and community bodies.
CAFTA is a Community Development Project based in Ballymun which was established in 1987 by The Little Sisters of the Assumption and local women. The Voluntary Board of Directors is currently made up of a representative of the little Sisters and local residents and others working in community and educational organisations. CAFTA currently employs 16 staff (5 full time and 11 part time).
CAFTA works closely in partnership with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd,Young Ballymun, National University of Ireland Maynooth and DCU in the Community to deliver training and education in the local community. CAFTA is a registered FETAC Provider under the National Framework of Qualifications.
CAFTA operates a Community Creche.
CAFTA also sponsors a Community Employment Scheme comprising 18 participants and a full time Supervisor.
